Rick and Shelly Hewson founded Hewson Landscape in 1988. After previous careers (Rick owned his own excavating company and Shelly worked in sales), both continued their education, completing horticulture classes at Rutgers University. Even after decades of experience, they're both passionate about learning. "Education never stops," Shelly says. "We are continually taking classes, visiting display gardens, going to conferences and consulting with colleagues." And they're passionate that each client gets the highest quality service, with a fast response, and always within budget. "If clients need a job to be done quickly, we can make it happen," Rick says. "If there's an urgent need, we'll meet it."
Shelly Hewson is President of Hewson Landscape Inc., headquartered in Plainfield, New Jersey. She is a graduate of The College of New Jersey, and her background is in sales and budgeting.
Since its inception in 1988, Shelly's primary responsibilities at Hewson Landscape have included financial matters, contract negotiation and management, human resources, and safety coordination, and she has acted as Managing Director for Marketing and Sales.
Shelly's forte is in creating internal office systems for increased production in order to run a smooth office environment. We have come a long way from paper and pencil to tablets and computers!
Shelly has been recognized locally through different associations, with several awards for her achievements in business and her community service contributions.

Rick Hewson is Vice President of Hewson Landscape Inc. Rick brings a plethora of experience from previously owning an excavating company. He started from the ground up as a laborer, progressed to heavy equipment operator, and enrolled in training classes to become proficient in estimating. He has certifications in green industry specific courses from Rutgers University. He is also certified as a licensed pesticide applicator in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Rick is the lead estimator, conducts tailgate meetings, sets up and informs the crews of their scope of work, and trains new employees on job specific equipment. Rick is also instrumental in conversing with front line employees in the discussion of new equipment to be purchased for job specific tasks, and then researches the best option. His mantra is to "work smarter, and gain job site efficiency for smooth production".
